Outreach programme

In East Lynn, Pretoria, a very special nursery school – DERDEPOORT PRE-SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE – was set up for high-risk and underprivileged toddlers. The toddlers who are accommodated there often stay in dire conditions without any hope of a meaningful future. The school has become a beacon of hope in a community that faces many challenges. Often the plate of food that toddlers get is their only plate of food for the day.

Therapists are used to assist the sometimes highly traumatized toddlers. The educational program offered in the school is of the highest quality and the toddlers are treated with great love. The school is in its fifth year of existence and currently houses 48 toddlers in 3 classes. The project is a joint effort of the CSR (Christian Social Council) and the Nursery Schools of the Midstream Estate. For the sustainability of the project, we depend on donations.
